Description
Accent lights mount on the deck side of a railing post, or at the foot of a staircase, and cast a narrow downward wash. They are for marking an edge or a change of level rather than lighting an area.
Finishes
Available in bronze and white.
Where to position them
Accent lights work by catching a surface, so a post beside a step, a landing or a change of deck level gives the effect they were designed for. On an open rail with nothing beneath, the light falls away and the fixture is wasted.
How many you need
Two or three well placed accent lights usually do more for a deck than one on every post. Start with the positions people actually walk past in the dark and add from there.
Before you order
Pair accent lights with riser lights on a staircase rather than choosing between the two. The riser light shows the step edge; the accent light shows the turn.
