Deck and Rail Lighting

Deck lighting is mostly about safety on stairs and edges, with atmosphere as the bonus. We stock fixtures for every part of a deck: post caps, under-rail strips, stair risers, accent lights and in-deck units that sit flush with the boards.

By brand

TimberTech and Azek lighting is designed to match their decking and railing systems, so caps and trim align with the boards.

Aurora lighting is the wider range, with more fixture shapes and solar, low voltage and line voltage options.

Where each fixture goes

Post cap lights sit on top of rail posts. Riser lights mount into the face of a stair riser and are the ones that genuinely prevent falls. Under-rail and accent lights wash light across the deck surface. In-deck lights sit flush in the boards for edge marking.

What to know before you order

Riser lights are easiest to install while the stairs are being built, so plan them before the deck is finished rather than after. A low voltage run needs a transformer sized to the total wattage, and stair and rail runs add up faster than people expect.

For lighting a fence line instead, see fence lighting. Decking and railing themselves are under deck supply and railing supply.
