Description
Polaris is the solar option within the LED range: a low profile cap that charges by day and lights at dusk with no wiring at all.
Supplied with 700 mA high capacity batteries, rated to run for up to 14 hours on a full charge.
Post sizes and finishes
Fits post sizes from 2 inches up to 6-1/2 inches, in black, white, natural brown, bronze, tan and clay.
What solar will and will not do
Solar fixtures give accent lighting, not area lighting. They mark a post or a boundary; they will not light a deck well enough to read by. Runtime also depends on what the panel sees during the day, so a cap under tree cover or on a north-facing run will fall short of the rated hours, and output drops in midwinter.
Before you order
If you want consistent output through a St. Louis winter, a low voltage fixture will hold up better. Solar earns its place where cable is the problem rather than where brightness is the priority.
