Description
In-deck lights sit flush in the deck boards themselves, marking edges and pathways from underfoot. They give the low grazing light that makes a deck usable at night without any fixture at eye level.
Specification
Installed into the surface of TimberTech or Azek deck boards. Bronze only, sold in four-packs.
Where to position them
In-deck lights earn their place at edges, along step approaches and around the perimeter of a seating area, where they mark a boundary underfoot. Scattered across open decking they read as decoration rather than lighting.
Before you cut
Each fixture needs a hole cut through the board and cable run beneath, so mark out the full layout and check it against the joists below before drilling. A light positioned directly over a joist cannot be wired without moving it.
Before you order
Decide positions before the boards go down. Retrofitting in-deck lights into a finished surface means lifting boards, which is the one job on this list worth planning around.
