Before and After Photos

Project Site Conditions

This backyard was a grass yard where two large trees had recently been removed. Because of that, the crew expected to run into roots while digging the post holes. The property also had a double drive gate location coming off the side of the house on a slope. That required extra planning so the finished gates would follow the grade and function properly. The home was located on a corner lot that backed up to a busy street, which made proper fence placement and containment especially important for the customer.

Customer Needs

The homeowner wanted a 4-foot white vinyl fence to help keep his dogs contained and create a safer backyard for his children. Because the property was on a corner lot near a busy street, the customer wanted more peace of mind when the dogs or kids were outside. The customer also wanted a fence that would not block too much of the surrounding view. A white vinyl picket fence gave them the containment they needed while keeping the backyard more open than a solid privacy fence. They also needed a double drive gate for future access because they planned to have a shed delivered later.

The Solution / Approach

Our salesman knew the customer was interested in vinyl fencing before arriving at the estimate, so he brought a white vinyl Norwalk sample. This style uses a 3-inch picket with 3 15/16-inch spacing, which worked well for the customer’s goal of containing dogs and children without making the yard feel closed off.

The customer also needed a double drive gate because they planned to have a shed delivered later. Since the double drive gate was coming off the side of the house on a slope, the salesman measured the degree of the slope so the gates could be built correctly.

Our shop built the two gate sections with a 7-inch drop, allowing the double drive gate to better match the slope and function properly once installed.

Results / Outcome

On the first day, our crew laid out the project with the homeowner using a long tape and paint marks to show the exact fence location. This helped confirm the fence placement before digging and installation began.

The homeowner pointed out the areas where two large trees had recently been removed, which helped the crew prepare for possible roots in the digging path. The crew was able to work through the root conditions without issue.

The finished white vinyl picket fence gave the homeowner a safer backyard for their dogs and kids while keeping an open view of the property. The custom double drive gate matched the slope well and gave the customer the access needed for a future shed delivery.
