Project Site Conditions

This project took place in a grass yard with relatively flat conditions, which helped simplify the layout. The main challenges were rocky digging conditions and one gate area that needed to be installed over an existing concrete sidewalk. The sidewalk gate required extra planning because it needed to function properly without dragging. The project also needed to be completed efficiently, so our installers arrived with a clear installation plan already in place.

Customer Needs

The homeowner needed a fence with small picket spacing to safely contain her little dogs. She wanted a secure enclosure that would prevent the dogs from slipping through the fence while still maintaining an open, attractive appearance. In addition, one of the gate locations crossed a concrete sidewalk. The homeowner needed a gate solution that would operate smoothly, avoid unnecessary damage to the concrete, and maintain the security of the enclosure.

The Solution / Approach

During the estimate, our salesman recommended an aluminum fence with 1 5/8-inch picket spacing, which provided the containment needed for small dogs without requiring a solid privacy fence.

For the gate crossing the sidewalk, the salesman reviewed several installation options with the homeowner and explained the advantages of each. Together, they selected an approach that would allow the gate to function properly while minimizing disruption to the existing concrete.

Results / Outcome

Our installation team arrived prepared for both the rocky digging conditions and the sidewalk gate challenge. The aluminum fence was installed successfully, creating a secure and attractive pet containment area for the homeowner’s dogs.

To address the sidewalk gate location, the installers used a Screw Boss post mounted directly to the concrete. This solution reduced mess, minimized the risk of damaging the sidewalk, and provided a stable gate post that allowed the gate to operate properly. The homeowner was pleased with the finished result and the added peace of mind that came with knowing her dogs could safely enjoy the yard.
