Wildwood Fence Company

Maintenance-Free Outdoor Solutions builds vinyl, aluminum, steel and composite fence to suit Wildwood, Missouri rules. The city measures how solid your fence is, front yards cap at sixty percent, and your subdivision may be stricter still.

Vinyl Fencing

Wildwood regulates fences more precisely than anywhere else we work, and the number that catches people is not a height. It is an opacity.

In the front yard a fence may be no more than sixty percent solid, and the city defines exactly how that is measured: solid space as a percentage of total surface, taken across any ten linear feet of the run. You cannot average it out over the whole fence. Every ten foot stretch has to pass.

We have been installing in west county since 1994. Family owned, A+ rated with the BBB, and we build only in vinyl, aluminum, steel and composite.

Then there is Wildwood ground. Large lots, real slope, and a soil map that runs from deep silt to Goss, which is full of chert, with shallow rock in places and creek bottoms in others. On a five acre lot a single fence line can cross three different digging conditions.

Aluminum Fencing
  • We Design To The Opacity Rule. Sixty percent solid in the front yard, measured over any ten linear feet. We pick spacing that passes that test by design rather than hoping an inspector averages it out.
  • 25 Years To Lifetime Warranties. All our vinyl fencing products carry at least 25-year manufacturing warranties, most of them lifetime.
  • Installed By Our Own Crews. Your fence is built by our own people rather than handed to a subcontractor. The crew that quotes it is the crew that stands behind it.
  • Your Subdivision Can Be Stricter. Wildwood explicitly allows homeowners associations to impose tighter rules than the city, and in this area many do. We check both before quoting.
  • Long Runs, Changing Ground. Acreage lots mean long fence lines crossing slope and rock. Post spacing and depth get set for what each stretch actually needs, and our hard hole policy means finding rock does not change your price.
  • Financing Available. Financing through Synchrony for qualified buyers.

Which Fence Type Fits Your Wildwood Property?

Wildwood names the materials it will accept, and vinyl, steel and aluminum are all on that list. What is left to decide is where solid is allowed and where it is not.

What Fence Styles Are Popular for Wildwood Homes and Businesses?

Wildwood splits into two design problems, and they pull in opposite directions.

At the street, openness is the requirement. Sixty percent solid is the ceiling in the front yard, so spaced picket and ornamental aluminum are what work there. Aluminum in particular suits the rural look this city protects, and it never needs finishing.

Behind the front yard requirement, six feet of solid vinyl or composite privacy is available and it is what most Wildwood back yards use. The city has a term for a fence at ninety percent opacity or higher, which tells you they have thought about exactly where that belongs.

On the larger lots the practical question changes from privacy to definition. Long boundary runs across acreage are more about marking a line and containing animals than screening a neighbor who is two hundred feet away, and that calls for a different design entirely.

What Should You Know About Wildwood Fence Rules?

Wildwood was incorporated to protect a rural character, and its fence rules are written accordingly. They are specific, and they are worth reading before you order.

Fence Post Hole Cross Section

Wildwood sets its fence standards in the zoning regulations, and they were tightened by ordinance in November 2022.

A boundary fence may be six feet or less in height and is allowed within the minimum yard requirements. It may not sit inside the sight distance triangle, and it may not be located within ten feet of the edge of pavement of any street. On a corner lot nothing over three feet above the street pavement elevation is permitted inside that triangle at all.

The opacity rule is the one that decides your design. Within the minimum front yard requirements a fence must have an opaque value of sixty percent or less. Wildwood defines opacity as the solid space expressed as a percentage of the total surface, measured at any ten linear foot section. That last part matters. A run cannot average out to sixty percent, every ten feet of it has to comply.

Materials are listed rather than left open. Vinyl, stone, brick, metal including steel and aluminum, treated or simulated wood and synthetic wood composite are all acceptable, alone or in combination. Everything we install falls inside that list.

Two more things worth knowing. A fence legally installed before the 2022 ordinance is treated as legal and non-conforming, so an old fence that would not be approved today can usually stay until it is replaced. And the code states plainly that a homeowners association may enforce stricter rules than the city, which around here is common enough to assume until proven otherwise.

What Do Wildwood Customers Say?

People move to Wildwood for how it looks. That tends to make them careful about who they let build something two hundred feet long across it.

Just had our fence installed and they got us in about 3 weeks earlier than originally scheduled. Tony the salesman came out twice to do different estimates and was very good at explaining and answering questions. The crew that installed, Cody, Dakota and Bailey, did a great job.

The fence they installed turned out beautiful. Shane, Ben and Dakota did a fabulous job. They were very professional and conscientious. Not only did they come in way under the other company quotes, the quality is far better. Highly recommend.

Fence Projects We've Completed in Wildwood, MO

Every Wildwood fence project has to account for the property, the surroundings, and any city or neighborhood requirements before installation begins. That can include fence height approval, utility locations, sidewalk exposure, tree roots, and how the new fence connects with existing fence lines.

The Bryant project in Ashford Oaks is a good example. The homeowner needed to replace a shorter privacy fence with a 6-foot white vinyl privacy fence after adding a swimming pool, but the backyard backed up to a main road and sidewalk, which meant city approval and utility planning had to be handled carefully.

If your Wildwood property needs more privacy, better pool screening, or a fence replacement along a busy street, this case study shows the kind of planning that goes into getting the project done correctly.

What Does a Fence Cost in Wildwood?

Wildwood quotes are driven by length more than most. Acreage lots produce long boundary runs, and length multiplies every other decision.

Slope adds labor, chert and shallow rock add time, and the front yard opacity rule often means two different products on the same property. None of that should arrive as a surprise on an invoice, which is why the ground risk sits with us under our hard hole policy.

For current per-foot ranges by style and height, see our 2026 vinyl fence pricing guide, or the guides for pool fencing and aluminum. Then we walk the line, measure it properly and put a fixed figure in writing, free.

Fence Planning FAQs

Call us on 636-464-1144. Wildwood questions are usually about what is allowed at the street, and the answer is a percentage rather than a height.

How tall can a fence be in Wildwood?

Six feet or less for a boundary fence within the minimum yard requirements. It must stay out of the sight distance triangle and at least ten feet back from the edge of pavement of any street. On corner lots nothing over three feet above street pavement level is allowed inside the sight triangle.

What does the sixty percent opacity rule actually mean?

It is a limit on how solid the fence is, not how tall. Within the minimum front yard requirements the fence may be no more than sixty percent opaque, where opacity is the solid area as a percentage of the total surface. The important detail is that it is measured across any ten linear feet, so the whole run has to comply section by section rather than on average. In practice that means spaced picket or ornamental aluminum at the front rather than a privacy panel.

Does my subdivision have stricter rules than the city?

Very possibly. Wildwood explicitly permits homeowners associations and other private entities to enforce stricter fencing rules than the city does, and many Wildwood subdivisions take that up. An association can limit height below the city maximum, restrict color or style, or require approval before work starts. We check both sets of rules at the estimate so you are not approved by one and refused by the other.
