Description
Polaris is the low profile solar cap in the Aurora range, and the one to reach for when running cable is impractical. No transformer, no trenching, no electrician.
Supplied with 700 mA high capacity batteries, rated to run for up to 14 hours on a full charge.
Post sizes and finishes
Fits 2, 2-1/2, 3, 3-1/2, 4, 4-3/8, 4-5/8, 5, 5-1/2, 6 and 6-1/2 inch posts, in black, white, natural brown, bronze, tan and clay.
What solar will and will not do
Solar fixtures give accent lighting, not area lighting. They mark a post or a boundary; they will not light a deck well enough to read by. Runtime also depends on what the panel sees during the day, so a cap under tree cover or on a north-facing run will fall short of the rated hours, and output drops in midwinter.
Before you order
Check what shades the post through the day before committing to solar for a whole run. Where a few positions are shaded and the rest are not, mixing solar with a short low voltage run usually works better than forcing one solution across the lot.
