Description
The Polaris is a solar post cap light with a low profile, giving a soft downward glow without a tall fixture on top of the post.
Supplied with 700 mA high capacity batteries, rated to run for up to 14 hours on a full charge.
Post sizes and finishes
Fits post sizes of 2, 2-1/2, 3, 3-1/2, 4, 4-3/8, 4-5/8, 5, 5-1/2, 6 and 6-1/2 inches, in black, white, natural brown, bronze, tan and clay. The range starts smaller than the wired fixtures, so Polaris is often the only option on a slim post.
What solar will and will not do
Solar fixtures give accent lighting, not area lighting. They mark a post or a boundary; they will not light a deck well enough to read by. Runtime also depends on what the panel sees during the day, so a cap under tree cover or on a north-facing run will fall short of the rated hours, and output drops in midwinter.
Before you order
Measure the post first. Solar makes most sense on a fence line away from power, where trenching a cable would cost more than the fixtures.
