Getting City Approval to Go From Four Feet to Six in Wildwood

Our salesman brought a sample of the Supreme vinyl privacy fence to the estimate so the homeowner could see the product style before moving forward. The Supreme style was recommended because it provides a more finished rail appearance compared to a basic square-rail privacy fence.

Since the customer wanted to increase the fence height from 4 feet to 6 feet, they needed city approval due to the fence location along a main road. Once that approval was handled, our team planned the replacement around the existing fence line, nearby utilities, tree roots, and the sidewalk-facing backyard.

Because utilities were expected near the fence line, the crew was prepared to hand dig if needed. The customer was told there would be no extra charge if hand digging became necessary.

The crew arrived on Friday to begin the fence replacement. Once on site, they found that the marked utilities were far enough away from the fence line, so hand digging was not required.

The crew did run into some roots while digging, but the root conditions did not cause major delays. One added detail came from the neighboring homeowner, who asked that a double post not be set next to her existing fence post. With the customer’s approval, our crew removed the neighbor’s post and field-routed her fence into the new fence line for a cleaner connection.

Because the project extended over the weekend, our team installed temporary safety fencing before returning Monday to finish the job. The completed 6-foot white vinyl privacy fence gave the homeowner the added pool privacy and roadside screening they wanted. The customer was pleased with the final result, and the salesman was later able to help the neighbor with her own fence project.
